Carl Edwards, was one his way to an impressive finish at Talledega this weekend. He was just pulling up close to eventual winner Brad Keselowski when something rather surprising happened. A flip! No it wasn’t a trick that Edwards had learned, but rather an accident as his car got bumped, went out of his control, flipped over a couple times and landed on the safety fence. 8 spectators were injured, a couple of them fairly major injuries. It’s only lucky that the safety fence held its ground. This is “the Big One” that Talledega has been known for. Lots of blame is being cast and ultimately, most people are saying that the cars with their mandated restrictor plates are the big problem. That and the kind of banked curves at the speedway. There are many reasons, but luckily, no one was killed. And Edwards playfully hopped out of the car after a moment and ran across the finish line, just like Will Farrel.
