Carl Edwards, was one his way to an impressive finish at Talledega this weekend. He was just pulling up close to eventual winner Brad Keselowski when something rather surprising happened. A flip! No it wasn’t a trick that Edwards had learned, but rather an accident as his car got bumped, went out of his control, flipped over a couple times and landed on the safety fence. 8 spectators were injured, a couple of them fairly major injuries. It’s only lucky that the safety fence held its ground. This is “the Big One” that Talledega has been known for. Lots of blame is being cast and ultimately, most people are saying that the cars with their mandated restrictor plates are the big problem. That and the kind of banked curves at the speedway. There are many reasons, but luckily, no one was killed. And Edwards playfully hopped out of the car after a moment and ran across the finish line, just like Will Farrel.

At Talledega this weekend, the great Aaron’s 499 will be the big race. It’s going to be an amazing and fun day, with all the best racers right there and ready to play. The Busch Bros. as I call them, and Everett, Gordon, Stewart, and all the rest. One of the relatively unknown players is Marcos Ambrose, an Australian who will be racing for just the second time this season. He was last seen at Daytona, where he finished 17th. This time, however, he says that he’ll be taking a much harder stance, pushing the others harder and essentially being more aggressive with his style. It’s probable that he wont win, but you never know. He is a talented driver with lots of tricks up his sleeve. It’ll be a lot of fun, that’s for sure! Make sure to tune in!

On Saturday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 in Phoenix, there was a surprising winner. In each race, of course, there are a lot of different possibilities for racers who might win. This time, the winner was one of the dark-horse racers in the sport. In his 36th win, Mark Martin was able to pull away from Tony Stewart with just 6 laps to go and won. Martin, who is 50 years old, might just be prouder of this win than any other in his career. His very first win was back in 1989, and he said that his life had been fulfilled at that time. But he didn’t say that this weekend, but he had a great time. Biffle, the Busch’s, Stewart, and the others were unable to hold him off, though they are still higher in the Sprint Cup Series so far.  Next up: Talladega next weekend!

Joey Logano, an 18 year old driver, was able to eke out a win over Kyle Busch and bring in his first win in the Sprint Cup. This is a great accomplishment for him, and it keeps the Busch’s from continuing their dominance of the top positions. Logano and Busch led the way for much of the race, leading for almost every lap. Towards the end, there was a red flag when one racer wrecked. To win, Logano and Busch needed to get a good start after the red flag and they both did. Logano, however, held his lead, pushed the speed and kept ahead of teammate Busch for the rest of the race. Carl Edwards still leads the series of races, but the two Buschs are staying far up.

Jeff Gordon the winner of the Samsung 500, at Texas Motor Speedway, broke his 47 race drought on Sunday. With this win marks Gordon 82nd win of his Cup career and makes him sixth of all time. Gorgon who has his crew mainly to thank for the victory by helping him get off pit road first from under caution Lap 305 of 334 on the 1.5 mile speedway.  All Jeff Gordon fans knew that it would only be a matter of time before their hero with the number 24 patch would regain his title. Anyone who actually thought that Gordon’s last win at the October 2007 Lowe’s Motor Speedway would seriously need a reality check because number 24 may be down but never count him out.

Stewart didn’t make it. He might have been just as confident as anyone else in the world. Jeff Gordon was able to hit the Texas Motor Speedway and really won the race this last Sunday. In our weekly fun, Gordon turned out to be the best racer. The Busch brothers weren’t as good, with only Kurt coming in the top 10. Tony Stewart came in 4th in his Chevy. Jimmie Johnson may have finally started to hit his stride with a 2nd place finish. However, this does give us a chance to think about how good a racer Gordon really is. He is the kind of racer who can win at almost any track and has done so. He won the Samsung 500, but can he win the cup?

Tony Stewart is on the way to Texas this weekend and he has a great feeling: he’s gonna win! That’s what he says at least. You can really imagine that this guy is ready to win. He’s only in 6th position right now headed into this weekend. The Busch brothers have been winning a lot this year, and they might have the upper hand going into this weekend. But Stewart has his own secret weapon: self esteem! He is confident that he will win, not based on a better suspension system or a stronger set of wheels, but instead on strength of his belief. Here it goes! Watch this weekend to see which one of them is right!
